Reinstalling FSX, but wait! What about my planes!

Sorry guys for another seemingly stupid question. But, last time I reinstalled the FS, I didn't know how to download any planes, so I didn't have any.
But now I have tons of addons, payware planes, now A321 or 737 and sunsets are missing the centerpiece.
WHen I uninstall the FS, does it uninstall all the addons too, or JUST the Microsoft stuff?
If it does leave the addons, can I just leave them there and then reinstall the sim and they'll work fine?

Hope I didn't confuse you... :D

if i remember well, or someone will correct me. when uninstalling, the wizard will ask 2 questions: do you want to uninstall the fsx stuff that was created when installation, then it will ask if you want to keep what have been save, meaning the missions and logbook. for the second question you'll just say no. and from what i remember all add ons will remain in place. and because there's material still in place in files it won't completely delete the files, just deleting the primary install game. but you don't have to take my word for it.

i reinstalled my FSX without putting my planes into another folder and installed it again and my planes came back but just lost my textures (which i really didn't care about)

If you haven't wiped out your FSX install by now, I'd save your planes in another folder with an easily-identifiable name, install FSX, the transfer the back-up file into FSX, wipe out the default file and rename the saved file with the same name as the one you wiped out. All your planes should still be there, just as you had them before. Do the same with your Gauges folder, Effects folder and others you want to keep.
