some odd unrealistic but serious question.

hello guys.

This question is in regard to hypersonic jets. Only a few jets fly at hypersonic speeds that are downloadable from the internet (also on simviation ofcrouse)
I have verous fictional aircrafts. Mainly based on strar trek and battle star galactica ships.......
you know where im going.

Whats really bothering me is the maximum "true speed" in fsx. Which is 3000knots at sea lvl take a few knots more or less.

No matter what aicraft I download, the top speed is 3000knots. Now you think, why does it bother, you just multiply time warp option to a max of 128 right?
Thats all very fine and nice. But im cutting to the point, I wanna show off some real airspeeds. Not only for show but also for realism. I got a experimental prototype of the valkyrie aircraft. The XB-70 for short and all those other fictional aircrafts i mentioned earlier.

They all accelerate towards 3000knots with ease, but just before 3000knots a higher speed is impossible to gain. It accelerates towards 3000knots with 100knots per second (or similar) yet when it reaches 3000knots theres some amazing barrier that prevents me goig faster.

3000knots is measured at ground speed or true airspeed. At higher altitudes this speed inevitably decreases but it remains (trough calculation) a similar speed around 3000knots.

Is there some patch addon tweak notepad edit option that can make it go faster. In short, can you tweak that barrier to the real airspeed. Cause in the valkyries case it coud go 1,5 times faster then 3000knots. So it should go 4500knots, but tht speed is inevitable to reach.

please tell me, and thanks for your answer.

I wish!

As far as I know, the max True Air Speed is 2666  You can push the indicated air speed to close to 3000 by going into a shallow dive, but I've never been able maintain it without being a few feet above sea level for short periods.  Maintaining 100 feet or less at that speed is difficult, even using autopilot.

Of course, the other drawback is, unless you have an "uber-computer", your terrain visuals (mesh and texture) can't keep up, unless you're at a high altitude.  :P

If there's a way around the speed limit, I'd like to know about it too, even if it means cruising at 30,000+ ASL.

As far as I know, the only way to go any faster, would be using slew mode, which pushes the limit up to just over 5,000 knots.
It suffers all of the same graphical problems that Boikat mentions, though.
Still, it's not quite what we're after, but it is pretty fast.  :o
