What kind of FPS rates do you guys get on average?
Wondering if I need to upgrade. :)

FPS locked at 30 but in big cities it sometimes dips to around 15.

Permanently locked at 20 FPS. Required for On-line, Multiplayer sessions!

8-20 FPS. Varying upon scenery complexity below. Average 19 FPS.

I,m a little below most of those numbers. To get 15+ in a very dense city is not very often and, pardon my ignorance but, what do you mean by "locked"?

It will go higher but I've got it locked at 30. With intense scenery it will sometimes drop down to 20.

Chuck, in Settings/Display/Graphics tab there is a slider. If you set it anywhere to the left of max, it will lock, not letting the fps go above the lock point. Depending on your system, if you don't lock it, your system may try too hard to reach max and you will end up having less performance instead of more. The eye can not tell much difference above about 25 anyway.

..and if you fly on-line in Multiplayer, you are required to LOCK your Frame Rate to 20 FPS max to ease the bandwidth load on the on-line Server... ;)...!

It makes everything much smoother, for everyone!

Over the ocean I can get like 80-100 fps
With all the sliders up at around 1000ft, 8-12 fps
All this sliders Chicago O'Hare, 3-5fps
Decent looks: 20-60fps, depends where I am.

30s-40s in 'meh' scenery, and in 'HOLY CRAP, THAT LOOKS AMAZING!!!' (see http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1272933350) scenery, I get about 20.  I like bloom, so scenery is turned down lower, with water effects high.  Clouds are set pretty low, but still 3d...  NO TRAFFIC!  I hate traffic for more than just the performance hit.

I normally lock my sim at 25fps, the reason being is that I don't really notice the extra frames above that. I would prefer nice scenery with 25fps then everything turned down and doing 50fps.
