Hadn't opened FS9 for quite some time and was immediately reminded of how much I dislike the FSX opening music.  Other than turning the volume down, is there a way to disable this function?

On the top right corner, next to the minimize and close buttons is a little speaker, just click that and it won't play until you click it again.
8-)

Or, somewhere in the music settings, you have a number of options for different kinds of music.

You can have any music you want as opening music - you just have to put a *.wav-file into the following folder ( C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Sound\UIMusic  ) and choose it as starting-theme in FSX menu...

;)

I've had "Danger Zone" and "Flight of the Valkries" as my FSX menu tunes for quite some time.

Very easy, just C&P.

Almost forgot!  Any added tunes hafta be .wav files.

I've had several, To Tame the Perilous Skies, Holsinger.
Tempered Steel, Charles Young. To name a few.

These are both great Wind Band pieces and should be spared a few minutes to listen to.  :)
