Unlimited stutters

I had to re-install FSX after some technical problem lately. Before that took place, I used to enjoyed the smooth benefits with the slider set to unlimited.

But now I'm suffering from unlimited stutters. I have set the settings exactly as I had them before. The bufferpools, etc... But it just keeps stuttering badly.

What can be done to fix it back into shape again... like the good ol' days.

Thanks.

Have you re-installed the service packs? They make my sim perform much better! Also a defrag always helps...

Have you previously done any fsx.cfg edits too?

I have both service packs installed and I've defragged quite often.

It's wierd because before I re-installed everything I used to get smooth fps that would be in the range of 50-70 fps. Now I'm getting betwwen 15-30 fps a lot's of stutters.

I've edited the fsx.cfg for the following entries:

Texture bandwith to 70
Bufferpools: 80000000
Autogen tree max: 2500

Try this:

BP: 8000000

Trees: 600

Buildings: 100

Use O & O Defrag

Careful with them sliders!

I have recently upgraded my computer and it was giving me bad stuttering, It was down to the Motherboard not having the support for the new i5 Chip, A new BIOS rom fixed that and now... I get as smooth as silk flying :)

So my advice would be to go onto your motherboard manufactures website and look for new Rom updates.

texture bandwith = 40.  70 was bad on mine.

The BEST driver is NOT the newest driver ... Nick has it in one of his posts.  Could be 180.4 ... I think.  Later drivers are pretty flakey .... I don't know about the VERY latest though ..  :-?

The key to getting rid of the stutters is boosting your bufferpools.

Wow, what a breakthrough!!! For months I was getting all sorts of graphic corruptions after a few hours of flying in daytime, and after just 10 of being around other planes in airports at night. The HIGHMEMFIX=1 did the trick and now all is well.

The 182.50 is a very good driver with FSX. Heck, it is a good driver with any game I have.
