Hi, recently i have been having alot of trouble landing, what i like to do is reach 30k feet then find the closests airport, ive been trying to align with atc direction but it leads me to the middle of the airport is their anyway i can line up to the runway

try to plan your trips I.E Make a flight plan going from one airport to another.
One route I do that is easy in a 737 and about one hour and 30 minutes long is KATL to KMIA.
They will keep contactingyou and tell you to turn this direction every now and then. Then line you up perfectly. Being 30K ft and trying to land at closest airport is not somthingto rely on atc.

Make sure your fuel for the planned flight is "enough"...and correct for the flight.

Sounds like you may be going from VOR to VOR - Jet Routes or Airways.

The Garmin GPS that is standard in most of the default FSX jets will display a green arrow that guides you in to the predominate runway.  This is only availabe on major airports and is not available on all.  You have to zoom in to the 10NM setting to see the green arrow that I am talking about.  Some airports have multiple green arrows of different runways.

I do not fly default FSX jets and the Garmin may not be on all, but I do believe that it is on the LearJet 45.  If you want to do a visual approach this is the best way to learn.  You can also add the Garmin into any of the planes you want that does not already have it installed.  It is a simple modification to the panel.cfg file.

Another way is to decide what runway you want to land on.  Runway 13 has a heading of at least 130 and can go up to 135, there is a range, but I do not recall what the exact range is.  Runway 4 would have a heading of at least 40.

If you want to land on runway 4 go to the airport, come in from the west and head to the airport on a heading of 40 until you see runway 4.

I like to use CoPilot Pro, this will give you airport diagrams of all the FSX airports.  You can also get airport diagrams off the web, look at www.airnav.com

The green arrows on the GPS I believe you are talking about are the ILS feathers. They are not necessarily the runway of choice for the weather conditions.

I recommend practicing IFR procedures with something small, slow, and low, like the default Cessna 172. Learn how ATC vectors you, and what to expect and not expect under their control.
