Direct X Preview and Unable to select Simulation Rate using"R"

I am running FSX SP2 in Windows 7. I have 2 problems.
1. I cannott activate Simulation rate by pressing"R", I have to go to Options
2. When I am in settings and I press Customize to enter Graphics, I cannott see DirectX Preview.
          Can some kind soul help please.

Have you checked your key-settings? I don't know exactly but afaik 'R' isn't assigned to the simulation rate... And if the key is assigned we have one possible fault checked. 

2. When I am in settings and I press Customize to enter Graphics, I cannott see DirectX Preview.

Might be a spec problem since not every gra/ca will support DirectX 10 and for that reason it won't appear in FSX. Maybe post your specs for a closer look!

I aso do have the Windows 7 and I think DirectX10 doesn't work too well anymore as it did in Windows VISTA.

Correct me if I'm wrong please
