Propellers visual problem

Hello again,

I'm getting a problem with 70% of downloaded prop. aircrafts, as you can see from the pics I'm posting, the prop are hidden behind clouds/trees/buildings...

I'm using FEX,UTX,GEX Acceleration pack with an Nvidia GTX260 oc.

Thanks in advance for any idea or suggestion.

The 2 aircrafts shown below are the ac520v3 and the
AS 350 Ecureuil (rotorcraft)

P.S. I'm not using DX10 preview

P.P.S. Another problem of the same aircrafts is that glasses do the same effect (hide behind autogen/clouds...) and that the shadow of the propeller is a bite unreal (as if the propeller is a solid disc)

Actually that's a quite common issue with adapted a/c from old FS versions.

If I'm right, some designers offer a fix for those prop/glass problems, but if there isn't a update for the a/c I don't have any idea how to solve this problem myself...  :-[
Though I guess someone like Daube, Phil or Brett will know the answer!  ;)

thanks for the quick reply Meck... the strange fact is that I had to reinstall FSX 2 weeks ago and before reinstalling it I wasn't having this problem, at least not as widespread as now.

In the last installation only 2-3 aircrafts were bugged (in a similar way), since now I'm having problems with like 20-30 airplanes/rotorcrafts...

I will try to check the differences beetween the 2 installations but I tried to follow the same steps...  :(

Well this info might help since I guess you've backed-up your a/c (and didn't download and reinstall them). So it sounds like it really is a FSX and not an add-on issue - I always blamed the non-compatibility of my models...

This is, as Meck explained already, a common problem that occurs with any addon that is not in native FSX format.
Typically, all of the FS9 planes that are compatible with FSX will have this problem.
There are no solution at all. At best, you can edit the prop/rotor texture to set it very very transparent, so that the problem will be less noticable. But the problem will not dissapear completely.
You should perform a search on the forum using the tool name, DXTBMP. It's a freeware that allows you to edit the transparency of a texture (alpha channel). Discussions about this tool are very frequent, you'll find a lot of explanations.

Thanks a lot Daube and Meck for your replies.

It's true, sadly the "bug" will never completely disappear (and probably I was having the same problem in my last installation)... But I found that in my last installation I was using a different cloud textures style in FEX, that's why it was not so annoying to me.

BTW i'm now using DXTBmp to increase the transparency of all the propellers (a long work tbh) and with the softer cloud textures the result is a lot better imho...
