Ant's Tiger Moth - Compass problem

The compass in Anthony Lynch's Tiger Moth (V1.1) doesn't work for me.

Maybe there's a solution easier than this, but personally I had to fix a lot of non-working gauges in freeware planes, so probably this can be the reason.

If it is a gauge problem, I can try to locate the compass gauge in panel.cfg file (inside the panel subfolder of the aircraft folder)

you should find something like this: (this is taken from aircreation default ultralight)

[color=#0000ff]gauge01=Aircreation_582SL!compass,

This won't work with Ant's Tiger Moth. It has no 2D panel & the VC gauges appear to be coded into the MDL file.

The Tiger Moth has a magnetic compass like this.

This is accurately modelled in Ant's FSX version. The needle moves realistically but the markings are very difficult to read. The locking lever can be unlocked with the mouse but I can't find a way of adjusting the bezel which is necessary to set the desired heading.

Ant's compass works fine, just differently than a modern compass or heading indicator. It is like your (or maybe your grandpa's

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

The ring has a lock. Click on the lever in the compass body to lock/unlock. Right is unlock and then mouse wheel anywhere on the compass face

Right. The locking lever works in the opposite way to what I thought. It's unlocked by default.

you are right.

I tried to install the plane and the compass works well. the problem is not the gauge but how to use it (TM is a P-8 type compass):

read this: http://www.cixvfrclub.org.uk/downloads/ ... ompass.pdf

or this: http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/Histo ... Notes.html
