I don't know if there's a rants and raves section here (I looked around and didn't see one), but boy do I have a rant! I just flew from Oneonta Municipal (N66) to Charlottetown (CYYG) in the Dreamfleet Dakota I just purchased, a total of 582 nm and 7 hours of flight time, real world weather, VOR to VOR with no autopilot, and after I land, I hit the "alt" key so I can instant replay my PERFECT landing, and FSX CRASHES ON ME!!! Not only did it ruin a really enjoyable accomplishment and flight, but I get no credit for it in my logbook.
None of the emoticons below describe how I feel right now...

Man, that sucks.
Moral of the story, save flights periodically

Never had that happen, but I did crash my plane after ab 8 hr flight from KATL to Osaka Japan...
And let me put it one way... Once you have clearance and the weather is cleared... Get that crap down as soon as possible or you may be dealing with fog that is from ground to 1k feet and heavy winds...
Other way of saying it, I missed the runway... Landed on a taxiway with a jet taxing

So what you're saying is you successfully re-enacted an every day Ryanair flight?

You can download FSX Log Book Editor from Lamont Clark and add, delete, edit you FSX logbook.
I highly recommend this. I do not use the FSX logbook function at all. I always used Lamont's editor to add, delete and modify my logbook.
You can download it from the avsim library under the FSX Utilities section.
Go grab it and add your flight back in!

I guess so

But I do remember now I retried it a week later and fsx crashed half way through... Kind of my fault though, was running lots of background programs

I might suggest investing in a registered version of FSUIPC4. With that, you can
set that utility to autosave flights periodically.
I have mine set to save every 7 minutes and to save the last 10 autosave
entries. When FSX locks up or a BSOD occurs I can reload FSX and then
load the last saved flight then continue on.
At the conclusion, I use Lamont Clark's logbook editor to adjust the entry
for then correct departure airport and length of flight.
I have suffered the same "FSX crashes on landing" after long flights
several times myself so I know the frustration that this can cause.
I suspect the cause is some sort of problem with available memory
or video card resources that get overloaded upon landing. Just my
unproved theory. In any case, save periodically, whether it be
manually or via FSUIPC.

You say you hit the "alt" key for instant replay?? After two years with FSX I've never heard of an instant replay feature. How do you access it?

Hit Alt when in FSX and you want to replay go to Options> Instant Replay> choose how long you wish to replay, and then hit ok

I did have that lockup during flights and most of the time when about to land, when I canceled overclocking my CPU, problem was gone, maybe you need to try that if you have any type of over clocking active?
just a thought.
