Windows 7 x64 problems with FSX

I am currently running Windows 7 ultimate x64.  i installed FSX deluxe and FSX Accel. last night.  When i run FSX without DX10 preview i get terrible framerates (4 or 5 FPS)and distorted sound for about the first 2 minutes but after that the sound fixes and i get  38-40 FPS until i take off or pan around the cockpit, then its back to screwed up sound and low FPS.  If i check DX10 preview this only happens if i pan back and forth quickly in VC but fixes in a matter of seconds.  I have the latest Nvidia driver.  I tried running in XP compatability mode, Vista compatibility mode and also made sure i was running FSX as a Administrator.  I even have the desktop set correctly (disabled Aero).  Why will FSX only run with DX10 preview enabled.  I dont want to use DX10 because the runways flicker and change size and plus it lowers my FPS by about 10.  Any suggestions on what could be causing this?  Anybody else experience these issues?  My PC is a dell Optiplex 745 Dual core (2.4GHZ processors) 4GB of Kingston memory, XFX 9600 GSO fatality GPU with 768mb RAM, and a Soundblaster XFi Xtreme Gamer soundcard.  Also FSX is on a seperate 250G HDD. FSX worked perfectly using windows XP Proffesional. Thanks in advance for any help

ok i did a complete reinstall,  I uninstalled FSX Accel., Then FSX, Formated the drive.  I installed FSX and let it completely run through the opening video (crappy ass graphics btw) then installed FSX Accel. rebooted again.  Then installed Directx update, then a C++ update, then rebooted again.  Now everything works fine.  Windows 7 in my case runs FSX almost 100% better.  I can now run everything on max settings except my weather which is around medium and traffic which i set at very low.  I also did 2 little edits in the FSX config file to elimate all the little clipping my system did in the virtual cockpit.  In downtown Austin, TX i was avg between 20-30fps (have my frames locked at 30) When i was running XP I was only getting between 10-17fps. In conclusion Windows 7= Happiness for me  :)

Its because you went from a 32 to a 64bit OS and correctly installed FSX, not the OS itself

regardless, it works and thats all that counts

yea, extremely happy it works now.  Just have to try and figure out how to get Tileproxy to work now.  I disabled the Driver liscense signing thing but when i install Tileproxy it still says it may not work properly because it is an unliscensed driver.  i also have no idea what people mean by an F8 boot. I had Tileproxy working beautifully in Windows XP though

here is how i got Tileproxy to work in windows 7

finally go it to work by using a program called Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider.  Dont worry it works for windows 7.  Install tileproxy then download and install this program.  Enable windows test mode, then restart your computer.  Re-run this program and choose sign a system file.  The file you want to sign is the Tileproxy driver file.  if you dont know where it is then when i get home tonight i will relocate it in my system, should be the same location as yours. Once you sign the driver tileproxy should work.  You have to leave the program in test mode for it to work.  here is a link to the download  http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=dseo
