You should always match the SDK to the version in use, otherwise you will find that the tools don't work

Well, all I know is what I stated before. I think Acceleration includes SP2. You could check with Nick I suppose, but I am pretty sure you can only do one or the other.

You should install SDK2 -or- Acceleration SDK. You can NOT have both installed at the same time.

The Acceleration DVD contains everthing you need...

FSX Acceleration Pack users
To install the SDK for FSX Acceleration Pack:

1. First install the RTM SDK and SDK SP1A.
(SDK SP1A is included on the Acceleration Pack DVD disk for your convenience)

2. Insert your Acceleration Pack DVD

3. Open the folder called SDK

4. Install sdk.msi from your disk to install the SDK for the Acceleration Pack

When you install the Acceleration SDK, the SxS SimConnect.dll's for both Acceleration SDK and SDK2 are installed...

IOW, each iteration of the SDK will install a SimConnect.dll specific for that SDK in the ..\winsxs folder.

Clients will automatically find and use the appropriate version required for the SDK under which it was compiled.

What I can't get my head round, is that each step in the SDK installation (after the RTM install), uninstalls the previous version... so why not just install the Acceleration SDK if the RTM and SP1a SDK are going to get uninstalled anyway?

Hi Folks

Question -
Aren't the SimConnect SxS modules installed by the game's SPs ?

ISTR another reason given,
was to ensure you'd purchased the deluxe product, (includes SDK),
and not just dowloaded an SDK service pack.

IIRC, in the Nick's article elsewhere,
the comments were in relation to ensuring a developed product
was compatible for both SP2 and Acceleration users,
and not related to displaying the in-game tools.

Yes. That is essentially what I stated... ;)

Well, that is actually quite essential, because you cannot install any of the SDK updates unless you've first installed the RTM SDK that is only available on the FSX Deluxe (or Gold) packages.
