FSX hang up Gremlins and Task Manager?

Ok guys here it is:

I had to reload FSX, do all the necessary tweaks and the issue is still there.

When in flight if I choose the dropdown menu, say clicking on , maps or add-ons, (FSUIPC4) or the like, everything freezes...until I go to the Task Manager and hit "switch to" a few times it'll come to a screen that's not completely loaded OR it goes back to the flight, which is on pause....

Then it'll fly ok, If I choose to exit FSX, it hangs up again until I repeat the process....

On another note, I'm getting excellent performance since the reload...flight wise.

Any clues?  :-?

What is your antialiasing and ansitropic filtering level in your drivers ? FSX (and FS9) hate when AA is set too high, at least with NVidia cards.

I'm running the latest nHancer, with Nick's suggested settings....probably too high for my old system?  I did back off on the AA at different settings, but haven't tried the AF which I never touched....it's at 16x. Driver is the 195.62....

Maybe I should go back to another driver?

I'll back off on the AF a bit at a time to see the results. Any suggested settings for the old card? (GeForce8500GT)

Thanks for the reply!
