Here's the answer to all of your questions!  :D

For the 'airplane' folder go to .../Microsoft Flight Simulator X/SimObjects/Airplanes/ . Check the read-me file that should come with the add-on for gauges installation etc.  ;)

Where did you install FSX ??
C: ??
D:
E:
F:

The file path should be, for vista, C:/Program Files/MICROSOFT GAMES/FSX /SIM OBJECTS/AIRCRAFT

If you put it on another drive and not C:/

The basics...for windows XP
Right click on start
left click explore
Expand the drive by clicking +  (C drive or which ever)
Scroll down to program files and expand by clicking the plus sign
Scroll down to Microsoft games and expand it by clicking plus sign
Scroll down to Simobjects and expand it by clicking plus sign
Scroll to Airplane.
You are there. No need to expand the last file normally. Unless the read me says differently

I think that is what you needed. Hope it helped.
