I installed OpenSkys Airtran 737 Plane. And it came with the Airtran Pushback taxi. So when I request Pushback I get two taxis pushing me back. I like the Airtran one, how do I remove the default one? Without removing all the advanced scenery?

You need to remove the default file. I do not know the name or location of this file. 8-)

If the parking spot type is changed to something other than "gate", or an existing parking spot of different type is chosen (e.g., parking type = "ramp_cargo"), then methinks the pushback vehicles won't appear. Found this out while working on a custom airport.

I'd believe the file named vehicles_aircraft.bgl in the folder Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\Global\scenery might have something to do with the push-back tug. Try moving it to another folder (but don't delete it!).

Park somewhere there isn't a pushback car. No file modification necessary  8-) .
