Dino's F14 panel question

I am running FSX and a relative noob to modding it. I downloaded the F14 and it's great except for the fact I don't get the panel. I know the download included panels for different screen aspect ratio's but I'm not sure how to get this working.
Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have FSX SP2 and acceleration? Dino's vc requires acceleration for many of the gauges and panels.

No, I have SP2 but no acceleration. I was under the impression that this version that I downloaded was able to work with just SP2.

I may be wrong, but the newest Tomcat from Dino Cattaneo does not include a 2D panel.

If I recall correctly, the readme explains that the 2D HUD---it's only a HUD, not a full panel ----is either widescreen 16:9 or regular monitor 4:3 (16:12). If you have a widescreen monitor you use the widescreen monitor panel file. You don't have to use it. The readme may state what is default and if it is already widescreen then no need to change.
I think you need Acceleration to fully benefit from the F-14D made by Dino.

Jimmy Petrilli released an update for Dino's F-14D in witch you don't need Acceleration (right above the F/A-18 Super Hornet),

Yeah, no 2D panel, just 2D HUD, like with his T45 (another great plane). Don't worry, you'll get used to the VC after a bit

Im not sure if it will help or not, but the F14D REV 4 on page
http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military130.htm (4th up from the bottom ---- yeah i know it is for 2004) will work in FSX. You might be able to swap out the panels in the plane that you have.
just remember to rename your current Panel folder "PANEL.BAK" before putting this panel in.
I have FSX Deluxe SP1 and I have this plane installed and it DOES work!! 2d, AND 3D VC.

I'll give it a shot. I'm new to this and when I have tried changing panels in the past I couldn't get it to work right.

if you choose to try the FS2004 F14d REV 4 that I provided the link for....
Before you download it, go into the SIMOBJECTS / AIRPLANES / F14 that you have now. RE-Name that panel folder to PANEL.BAK.
download the REV 4 and SAVE IT somewhere safe. Open up the zip folder and find the PANEL folder. Copy/Paste it to the F14 that you have now.
(copy any effects, or gauges to their respective FSX MAIN folders)
It should not say that there are any gauges that will not work, but if it does, tell it "NO. YOU DO NOT WANT TO DISABLE THEM".

Capt. Propwash,
Thank you, I did as you instructed and it works just like you said it would. I learned something new today.
