"Outside Spot View" slipping to massive close-up

Postby Dobermann » Sun Nov 29, 2009 5:42 am

Hi All,  Is there any way of holding the "Outside Spot View", very often when switching to this view it has altered itself to a very large close up, where you can only see a small part of the enlarged plane, if I try to take the plane back by using the key - the zoom reading reaches 0.30 and the plane is completely distorted and not 100% in the picture making this option useless, I am sure someone out there has the answer and I would be grateful for any advice please.  Dobermann

Maybe use the Locked Spot View?

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. You fly with the view of the aircraft that is far enough away that you can see the whole airplane, and then you go to fly again, and it zooms in really close for no freaking reason! It happens to me ALL THE TIME! Its retarded! I don't know where Microsoft comes up with this, but it seriously drives me crazy. The view zooms in so far that I can only see like three or four windows on the airplane!

I wish I knew what to tell you, I really do. But it is just FSX altering the viewpoint randomly in some way; I don't know how to fix it. The "Locked Spot" view is actually the one thats changing, because F11 is the default outside view-"locked spot."

I think this needs further investigation, and I can't be the only one having this problem. Most people probably just forget to post about things like this, but once this post gets more publicity, we'll be sure (I hope!) to get a definite answer to the issue. I am with you 100% of the way my friend, I feel your pain. Hope we can figure this out. Try posting this on other sites like flightsim.com and avsim.com. Lots of people are out there to help-don't hesitate.

Try hitting Ctrl+space and backspace next time it happens. Should reset the view and distance.

One of the reasons I still use FS9 over FSX.  In FS9 you can set the distance for the spot view.

I get the same thing from time to time.

The only "fix" I've had work is to end-flight, pick another aircraft and location, let that load, then end-flight on that one and return to the original choice.

Tis a bit of a hassle, but it's corrected that situation for me every time.

Thanx for the tip! :)  I'll hafta see if this works next time the problem occurs.

Thank you fellow simmers for your replies and suggestions on how to alter back to the default view when it slips, they will be tested the next time the problem arises, although it sounds like its not going to be prevented, I see we had some "Big Guns" giving their views, and if they don't know, I doubt if anyone does.         "Reach For The Sky Lads"        Dobermann
