FMC and menu bar...

Hey everybody. I don't know if this has already been asked before (the forum search yielded no results), but I was wondering if anyone has released a freeware flight management computer that is compatible with all the planes in FSX. You can see them in the virtual cockpits of the default 747 and 737, but they don't do anything. I heard somewhere that PMDG provides them in their payware jets, but I'm looking for a free one. Lemme know if you guys know of one.

Also, I was wondering if there was a way to easily customize the menu bar in FSX. I think it would be nice to be able to quickly bring up a web browser straight from the menu bar. Or to open a small program (a route planner, descent calculator, converter, etc) within FSX from the menu bar as well. Is this possible?

Thanks!
Jimmy

I took a look through the download section for utilities and gauges and I found no FMC. There are programs I believe you can buy that can add the FMC to any aircraft but I'm not sure about this. Unfortunately not freeware.

As for the menu bar, it has no capability of opening a web browser or other programs. You'll just have to Alt+Tab to get to something else.

However I believe there may be a way to set up the kneeboard to have a browser. I've seen it in FS9 but have not heard of one for FSX, maybe someone knows something?  :-?

Thanks for the info guys!

Even though I can't use a browser within FSX, can I still bring up programs via the menu bar while FSX is still running?

While FSX is running the only way to bring up another program is to Alt+Tab the screen and start the program from your desktop. Some addons have been designed to run within FSX such as FS Recorder and FS passengers but unless you have programming knowledge I doubt you'll be able to get other programs not designed for FSX to run off the FSX menu bar.

YES

or you can type Honeywell into the search block.

that FMC is pretty easy to use and it loads to FS flight plan automatically. Best part is that you still have use of your GPS moving map in the display. It tracks very accurately

It was passed on to me and I'm still learning it.
It has a manual.  I downloaded it last month.  Installation is explained and easy(it must be because I did it).

It is free and a good start in FMC simulation, in my opinion.  Download size is 1.12MB zipped.  Readme shows install method for aircraft.

I've only used it for big multi-engine jets so far.
