FSX won't even start to reinstall

I thought I knew something about computers, but it is clear my knowledge is only surface deep.

Today I tried to uninstall the ASX-X Graphics pair.  The result it ripped out most of the FSX installation, believe it or not.  How or Why I don't know.

Then I uninstalled the remainder of FSX and set out to reinstall the programme ..  with all the add-on reloads to follow.

BUT,  a pop-up window at the very beginning tells me that I need the English language version of FSX /Acceleration (I have the single disk version). And that's where the installation stops, at the start! Well that's all I've got, the Engish version.  And its been loaded and reloaded many times without problem.

So I'm stymied.  Can anyone tell me what the blazes is happening.  If not it looks like an expensive trip to the techs.

My OS is Vista 64bit Home Premium (and all UAC has long been turned off).

Hi,Macca.

Don't rely on the FSX uninstall to get rid of those files.

Use your 'Search' option in Vista to locate ALL the remaining FSX files in your system and delete them through that manually. It is the only way I have found to get rid of pesky files that seem to block things.

Look carefully though at each file\folder before you delete it.

......actually you should also use that to remove any ASX files as well and any other stuff you can think of that you've added.
