1. Use nHancer to set the global profile to reflect Nicks settings.
If that does not work then....:
1. Temporarily turn on AA in FSX and see if that helps.
2. I believe shimmering of trees can be caused by a low Texture Filtering setting. Try setting it to Anisotropic in FSX and see if that helps.
The problems you have described do not sound like any issues with the profile settings themselves, because Nicks settings should get rid of jaggies and shimmering. It looks like the profile is not being activated (I've had similar issues on XP).

I matched the global settings to the FSX settings in nHancer and that has made all the difference. However, I use ImagineSim's KATL and I still get some shimmering and jaggies there - but greatly improved! :)

Could one of you please give me a link to Nick's most recent settings listing for Windows 7/FSX/Nhancer/GTX-275? I can't seem to find it.
I am having the same problems as others, shimmers, jaggies etc. using the 191.07 drivers.
I'm not so sure I am in love with Windows 7 although FSX does seem to run a bit faster on it but the video problems are getting very old!
Thanks for the help
John

http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaB ... 836739/4#4you MUST be on the right version of Nhancer for the drivers being used!
Many find the VISTA 182.50 driver works best in W7 with FSX
ENABLING AA IN FSX IS NOT THE SAME AS USING THE VIDEO CARD AA CONTROL. IT WILL NOT DO AS COMPLETE A JOB
Phil Taylor explained that some time ago. All that does is bypass the video card control and sets a hardware AA flag through the DX pipe.. that AA is not the same as the full hardware AA your card is able to run. It is HARDWARE AA but a cut-down version of it.
AG and typical scenery shimmering is controlled through
NEG LOD BIOS: CLAMP
COMBINED 8xS AA
BILINEAR FILTERING produces a different kind of shimmer.. that should be set to TRILINEAR

Thanks Nick.
I am using 2.5.7 and will download and install the 182.50 vista drivers. According to the nHancer website 2.5.7 is compatible with 182.0 and later so I suppose there will be no problems. I was using 182.50 on my old XP system and had no problems at all with the drivers. The 191.07 drivers for Win 7 have been driving me nuts for the last couple of days.
Thanks again
John

It works fine. Many others and I are using 182.50 in W7 with no problems and great performance.

The 182.50 drivers helped a little bit. Nick's link to setting up nHancer worked great. Reduced the shimmering etc. to almost perfect.
Now I just have to figure out why I am having so many video problems in Windows 7. I am using 1920 x 1200 resolution as set in the Windows control panel > display. Quite often windows such as Super Traffic board (and others) display in other resolutions such as 1920 x 1060, if I minimize it and then re-open it suddenly it is 1920 x 1200 again. Strange things!!! Been trying to figure that out for days. If I start Real Environment Xtreme, it starts in some weird resolution, then click fly now, enter FSX then FSX looks great (FSX is set to 1920 x 1200), then exit FSX, REX is back to 1920 x 1200. I don't think it has a thing to do with REX directly as other programs do it also. All this stuff works great in XP (I still use a dual boot system), also using 182.50 with nHancer there with no problems like Windows 7 is giving me.
Drives ya nuts!!!!

Out of curiosity, are you using Win 7 64 or 32 bit? Thanks.

XPx64 and will stay there with FSX until at least the 1st service pack is released for W7 at which point I will re-evaluate the situation
Right now W7 does NOT perform any better than a correctly set up XPx64 system and actually presents other issues/hoops I dont see I need to deal with at ALL
So when they release SP1 for W7 I will look at it again. If the perf/smooth flight is the same and they have resolved the other issues i will move to W7 for FSX then, otherwise its not necessary.
FSX was designed under the XP driver and memory management system, not Vista/W7 which is why MS had to pull its "Optimized for Windows Vista" advertising of FSX just after it was released. Truth in advertising laws made that statement false because FSX was not made for the Vista driver or memory management model
