Hello, Running FSX DeLux. with XP. All planes fly well and I am very happy with it but I have an issue with the A340. There is a background noise like a compressor on the whole time unless I switch all the Electrical system off. The Mast Caut light is on the whole time in air or ground and a light on the panel ARPT (don't know what this is) is on all the time. Originally I thought it might be the APU but I have swithed that off/on on the panel without result. I have clicked every switch on every panel but I cannot get rid of this background noise. It is not in any other aircraft nor am I doing anything different in the A 340. Can anyone help please ?

First off, which A340? There are a lot out there, we can help you more if you tell us which one exactly.
The sound may be the air conditioner. I know some designers like to add this to their aircraft.
As for the Master Caution light.. that's more of a general warning so It could mean a lot, its impossible to diagnose the issue without being there.

Downloaded the TOM_A340-600
Don't know about the sound issue, but....
ARPT is short for AIRPORT. Selecting it

Hello, The plane I have with this problem is the Airbus 321, (not the 340 as I thought at first) which has the annoying background hum. I have just purchased the A.380 Special edition and blow me if it doesn't do the same thing. I guess the 380 is based in the cockpit of the 321. The 321 came with the FSX Discs. I have tried turning down the Cockpit sound setting which helps but I of course loose the clunk and bangs that I like to hear, flaps, landing gear etc. In both planes the ARPT when clicked isn't effective, it stays on but I understand now this would not be the hum (?) With the Abacus A 380 the APU Pwr unit indication stays ON all the time although everything else in the cockpit 'window' shows OFF when the engines have finally started up fully. I cannot turn that OFF in the Overhead panel. I don't think I have an ON/OFF option for the airconditioner. Thank you for your interest.
