In the 'Readme' file

"Hints and Tips:

to fly around as a plane , open exit 2 and 3 to make the boosters and tank disappear

to do a vertical launch
- use SLEW to rotate to the vertical  and place yourself on the desired launch location
- put the throttles at about 20-25 percent
- come out of slew and you begin your launch
- slowly increase throttle to 100 percent
- seperate the SRB's and External tank when you think it looks right
- welcome to space"

And to add..

When in Slew, you have to go "up" a bit (using "q"), and the "rotate the nose up" key command is "9".  If you take Slew off before the tail is above ground, it treats it like a crash, and will bounce you up about 1000 feet.

I haven't found a way to have it just sitting in the real launch possition (nose up, just sitting there) but there may be a way that I don't know of.

I moved it to Edwards AFB and did everything Boikat did.  I pushed it into the desert a bit and then saved it in 'Slew' mode.  Now, to launch, I just select that flight and hit 'Y' key and I'm off to the races...:)

I tried the author's advice and use slew again for realingment after leaving the atnosphere and it works as advertised.

I got to 600k over Edwards and made an (almost) perfect landing at LAX my first try.

Reminder:  The '9' key for Nose Up is the KEYBOARD '9'.  Not the Numpad one.

If anyone manages a 'coast-to-coast' or actual orbit please post here.

"Slew" is a key command "y", which allows you to reposition or change the orientation of your aircraft.

i found a way to immobilize the shuttle. pure luck that's what i always do when using a jet propelled plane. i like to take my time, so i push brake to stop the plane to roll up. and it work with the shuttle, by default when the shuttle appear it has some motion you stop then slew and you can sit there motionless.
