I have seen screenshots from fsx that show FRS (Min, Avg, Max)  How is this information requested?  I only fine the Shift-Z which give on ongoing readout of FRS in the upper left corner.  Thanks.

I think thats the only way. Shift Z.

excuse my ignorance, but what is exactly frs frame rates and what is measured. what does it implicate in my game. thanks

They mean FPS which is: Frames Per Second, or how many times the picture updates itself on the screen.

If you press shift+z twice while in game, it will bring up some red text at the top of the screen, and part of that is the FPS counter.

This counter is highly inaccurate, and should generally not be used in any way to measure the performance of your FSX. Doing so will only drive you crazy, trust me.

I kind of had an idea that thing was bunk lol. My sim would be running fairly well and the counter said 4 or some other low number.

If you leave it off, and never notice anything wrong, then it can never bother you.

Turning it on when a problem is perceived leads to madness! 

It's best to tweak with that thing left off, if it looks smooth to your eyes, that's what matters most. 8-)

So what is that "target frame rate" thing in Settings? I have mine set to about 50. Am I actually seeing 50 fps or is the computer trying its best to achieve 50 fps? What I see on my screen is very good, if that means anything...

You can display the min,avg,max by adding the following line to the fsx.cfg file, in one of the [TextInfo.#] sections (which define the Shift+Z displays).

AverageFrameRate=#,#

As said above, the FPS that are shown in red when pressing SHIFT+Z twice are highly inaccurate.
Well, they are not really lacking accuracy, but they are hard to read because they fluctuate waaaaaay too much.
On a french forum, there's a guy nammed Jacky Brouze that made a great little utility freeware program that computes and show an "average" FPS value. The program is JAB_FPSx.

I agree, it is very inaccurate on the frame rates! When I use Fraps to record my FSX videos,I noticed a 10-20 frame difference in the FPS.But how acruate is fraps? lol
