confused re posky add ons!! Help!

Postby Basteward » Thu Sep 10, 2009 4:46 pm

Hi I have recently added a few posky aircraft into my fsx system. The aircraft and textures have been input correctly and I followed the instructions. However I am not getting any of the instrument panels at all. Its just blank?? I have downloaded other aircraft from other people and they work fine so I assume its something to do with the posky files?? What am I doing wrong?? Help??? :-[

It depends on whether the aircraft has been adapted for FSX correctly.

Some have been correctly updated to work in FSX -- some have not. If you are talking about a VC (virtual cockpit) -- again some  models have them and some don't.

If you can be specific about the file someone can help.

Thank you :)

In a word, No. Did you get the files here at Simviation or elsewhere? We need to know the file names & exact pages they're posted on. Links to the pages would be useful.

As Pete pointed out, many of the older Posky aircraft do not have a VC. However, most of the latest versions do & these are usually compatible with FSX. I suspect the ones you're having problems with are the older versions. These can sometimes be updated with files from the official Posky website.

Note that Posky aircraft were never the easiest to install, even for old hands like me.

That might be the best solution at the moment. Perhaps have another go when you're more experienced.

Don't be scared to ask for help on the forum but please try to be more specific.

Without seeing the actual files you are referring to, it is a bit hard to speculate what the problem may be. From others I have come across, its either that the files are older and do not have a vc to begin with, or in the most common case... like with the posky 777, the uploader did not configure everything correctly. Meaning that things like the vc textures are in the wrong place, panel.cfg's are messed up, or the model isnt intended to have a vc, yet they try putting one on anyways... and all other sorts of problems.

You may wanna go ahead and check this one out if your looking for a 777 with a vc.
http://www.simviation.com/simviation/?t ... 60&page=51

About halfway down... United new colors 777. Everything has already been done for the vc to show. All you need to do is install the xml gauges and some other files if you dont already have them.
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Some of the Panel folders also contain a folder named "Guages". This folder may contain 3 sub folders, I with the name of the aircraft. It contains all the guages you need. Move this folder in it's entirety to the Simobjects/guages folder in FSX.
I have noticed some other 'planes have the same problem, the Prinair DH Heron for one.
