I have just got FSX for my pc and have managed to get past all the installation problems by reading these forums.
Just as i thought i could play, i was slapped in the face with another problem.
I get a msxml4 error telling me i do not have the file installed when i do.

I am running vista home premium on a quad cpu Q6600@2.40ghz with 4 gb ram and a 512gb radeon HD4870 with a 640gb HDD.

I have tried uninstalling msxml4 and reinstalling it from the fsx dvd and even tried installing it from microsoft, but everything i have tried fails.

I would be so grateful if someone here could help me otherwise i think ill have to take fsx back. and the joysticks that i bought to play it :'(

Perhaps you should totally uninstall FSX. Install msxml from the Windows site and then re-install FSX.

Cheers,
Col.

What msxml4 file does it say you're missing?

I'd think a re-install should fix this.

Do you have UAC turned on? (User Account Control) if so you can sometimes run into problems installing programs on the C:/ though I've not had a problem with FSX on Win7 RC using UAC.

I got it working :D.

Ok this is wot i did so if anyone else has the same problem follow these instructions.
I take no credit for these as its by others who have helped me.

I uninstalled fsx and restarted my pc. Then i reinstalled fsx. When it had installed and i came to the problem i had i did the following:

create a file named msxml4.manifest via your notepad editor or another editor

paste these lines to the file and replace it with one in the game folder

This is all i did and the game worked.
I want to thank all you guys for your advice. You drove me to keep trying and not give up.
See u in the skys  ;)
