Has anyone been able to install AIcarriers2.zip on Vista. I can't get through the simconnect issue for Java, and have no aid on configuring the exe.xml file. I need help on instructions for installing it on Vista. Thank you.

I ran into the exact same problem myself on Vista 32-bit.

Hmmm, this is odd. I have used aicarriers for a long time on 32 bit Vista without any problems. UAC (user access control) is enabled on my system.
The simconnect issues can result from multiple add-ons that require slightly different versions. I ran into this problem with a different add-on a while back. What other add-ons are you running?

My problem is resolved by running the regular installer and editing the sample exe file included with the .zip. I just changed the path name to where the installer inserted aicarriers.exe (C:/blah/blah/yada/yada/then its/aicarriers.exe). Then i insterted the exe folder into the FSX folder in the hidden AppData file (C:/users/users name/appdata/roaming/microsoft/fsx).

This would certainly fix some UAC issues, since the address can be different.

All I can say is that I have a 32bit system, and I tried installing ai carriers 2 in vista, without doing anything with java and it works great....
Maybe java is the problem?

The way I go around this issue is to create a shortcut of the aicarriers.exe file on my desktop and run it after FSX loads up.

Many, many thanks to you wafu!!
I've been trying to get this to run ever since I installed REX. I had just gotten the Nimitz carrier and all was well but after deciding that the MegasceneryX Hawaii deserved to have REX as well as the Nimitz something went wrong and I had the dreaded "fsx/simconnect" error.
I've been searching for days installing and un-installing aicarr2, putting it in it's own directory, incorporating it in FSX, modifying the "Hosts" file, modifying the exe for it all to no avail. I knew it worked with the current flavor of Java as it had been working prior to the install of REX. I suspect as has been mentioned elsewhere that the simconnect file can be modified by subsequent add-ons and that is what had happened.
Again thank you on behalf of someone who has spent quite a few hours in the last few days trying to figure this out!!!!

Yes, but have you tried the solution originally posted by Amedee and re-posted several times on other boards?
