So I didn't get a lot of responses about downloadable carriers, but let me ask this question:

Does anyone know about where carriers are in game already?

The USS Kitty Hawk is not far from San Francisco Intl, KSFO. Head west and you should be able to spot it on Top-down view.

There are a few around. I suggest you read this:

Cheers,  :)

I cant find it at the moment so maybe someone else can chime in,

but there is a download you can get that allows you to place a carrier, or even an entire battle group anywhere you want. I got it here at SimV, but it was quite a long time ago and forgot where to find it.

If you want to place air carriers anywhere you want to get [glow=yellow,2,300]aicarriers2[/glow]. Search for it on AVSIM, http://www.avsim.com/.

You can get aicarriers2 from the authors web site. You will need
Java installed ( There is a link for that on his site as well )

FSX Scenery download section on this site, Page 41 there is a carrier for Pensacola, Page 44 there are two, one at Oceana and one at Miramar.  For Oceana and Miramar you will need Arrestor Cables 2.6  and FSUIPC for the catapult to work.

AC 2.6  http://www.simviation.com/simviation/?ID=200&page=1000

FSUIPC  http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

OMG!  Thank you so much Gypsy Baron!  AI Carriers is great!  Working cables, lights, and even a meatball!  And you can even control where it is and goes!  It took me so long to reply because I've been busy trying to land...

Any word on how to activate the catapult?

Gypsy Baron... are / were you a pilot?

No, not a pilot IRL however I was an aircrewman on NC-121J Super Constellations
during a couple of tours in Viet Nam with the US Navy back in
1966 and 67.

As to activating the catapult on the carriers, the default keys are:

Shift + U to activate the launch bar
Shift + I  to arm the catapult
Shift + SpaceBar to launch

You can assign alternate keys in the FSX Controls menu.

Note that you must be properly positioned on the cat with the nose
gear inside the red box. You will know your are OK when you
execute the "Arm" keystrokes. You wil get a message and a sound
file plays.

You might also be interested in the "AI Boat Utility" by the same
author as aicarriers2. That program will let you place carriers or
groups anywhere you want using Google Earth to define the sailing
routes. This will give you "permanent" carriers sailing your routes
on your schedule. With that option, there is a way to save a flight
once you are onboard one of the carriers and then be able to
start on deck in the future.

I'm not having any luck with the catapult, I can extend / retract the launch bar but nothing happens when I arm or trigger...

This is of course with AI Carriers 2...  Anyone encounter the same problem?
