Adding scenery ....

Postby grizzard » Wed Jun 10, 2009 8:31 am

When you add scenery to your "Addon scenery"  is it best to "Use Directly" OR "Run from cache" ??  I'm guessing "Run from cache" will mean that it's always loaded and "Use Directly" means only load when you're in the area??   :-?

The 'Cache this scenery' option is there to copy scenery that you have stored on a slower drive (generally CD or DVD) to the hard drive (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\SceneryCache\....). It does not mean that scenery will be pre-loaded to some memory or vm cache.

If the scenery is installed on your FSX drive or other drive of equal speed there should be no need to cache.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
