Ground Speed - Realtime

I am tracking a flight on Flightview. BA299, a 747-400 on my laptop and flying the exact same route with the sim. I can't get the same groundspeeds as the actual flight? The real flight is averaging 541mph at 38,000 feet. The sim is under 500

Well there could be two things going on. One is perhaps the aircraft has more of a tailwind then you do. Number two is perhaps Flightview records MPH while flightsim will display Nautical miles per hour.

Verify that your reading the speed in the same units and that your flying through the same wind and you should find you match.
