Throttle not holding

Postby antiguajim » Thu Apr 30, 2009 12:30 pm

All of a sudden my throttle fails to hold. I have to keep hitting F4 to maintain thrust. Any suggestions as how to fix this or what might be causing it?

What is the sound like during this? Are you out of gas? Add on airplanes or default?

Sound is consistent with level of throttle. Sound changes as throttle is reduced. Not out of gas. Checking to see if different with stock aircraft. Also going to return to default settings and see if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Your welcome! One more thing, how many aircraft do this?

I just checked and it seems to be happening with all aircraft now, fsx stock and addons.

Wow, did you set everything to defaults? or did you decide not to?

Did it start happening right after you installed a aircraft? when did you notice this happening? How far into the flight? sorry I haven't hit it yet :(

It started happening after I installed an aircraft , not sure which one, and it starts immediately. In other words, at start up. Thinking I should delete all addons and uninstall and reinstall fsx and sp1. Do not know why it is affecting stock planes.

There's the problem!

Not saying its your fault.. FS has a funny way of remembering settings when you don't want it to.

Anyway, go into your settings menu, go to controls, then under the buttons tab look for the value for "Autothrottle (on/off)" if it has a key assigned to it already go into the game and press it. If there is no assignment then you can make your own.

I have a feeling the problem may be with my joystick. When the joystick throttle is full I am only getting maybe 25% power. When I use F4 to increase to full, it falls back to about 25% again. Going to disconnect the joystick and see what happens.
Have looked for key commands and autothrottle commands are "arm" and "on" (not "on/off). I was under the impression, probably wrong, that autothrottle was only used in autopilot.
Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Ahh Hahh! The problem was the joystick. Looks like it's time for a new one if I can't get this one calibrated.
