This looks promising:

A new way to improve the lighting effects in FSX, especially for bloom.

Looking forward to trying this out.

white screen here.. may not work with 1920x1200

dunno.. dont have time to play with it right now

none the less its a re-release of the original in the past that hammered perf however from what I gathered they fixed the perf issue.

Not here...it works beautifully!  And it is a noticable difference.  Especially in the VC.  reflections are more defined.  The environment seems richer in color too.  I'm at 1920x1200.  I only flew around once in San Diego and I know it could be a placebo but I can say definitely I didn't notice any performance hit whatsoever.

This is way cool!  two small files to drop into the main FSX folder;  a .dll and an .ini.   That's it.  I swear it does just what those folks say in that post.

Locked me up tighter than a drum in fullscreen mode. OK in windowed mode but that's not where I fly.

A pass for me. :-[

This is the latest evolution of the bloom effect that I described in the post from my signature. It is NOT limited to FSX, it will work with FS9 too.

The performance hit is greater with the recent versions of this module, so I always stick with an old version which has almost no FPS impact.
There will be an FPS impact on old computers.
There will be problems like the one described by NickN depending on your hadware/drivers version/drivers settings.

OK... I tried it and have some mixed feelings about it.

It does work as described and gives an intetresting effect. However, it does seem a bit over done at times for my tastes.

Keep it mind that all the effects (bloom, adaptative lighting etc...) can be adjusted in the ini file.

Yes.....  I have been experimenting with some of the values and got it to more my liking. :)

I'm going to have to take a look at the .ini file then because I also found it too overdone at times.

I still have mixed feelings about it.
Even after exprimentations with differnt values/etc, at times it does seem very realistic while at other times, it's rather unrealistic.

Perhaps I don't have the right settings yet?
Anway, it is experimental after all and  I haven't given up on it completely.  :)

BTW, it gave no perfomance hit on my sys.

I agree.. It works on my 285 system but no matter how I work the config the result is not always uniform and pleasing

it can really look fake and other times it looks good..

to me if somthing does not present a pleasing uniform visual result its useless..  I dont fly for screenshots.. I fly to fly and enjoy the realism which this really does not create

From what I could gather from the various fourms, a dedicated ini for FSX has not been offically configured yet or, at least one most can agree on.

Maby someone can can up with an ini that is FSX friendly that can minimise our objections?

Personally, I ran out of patience with it and deleted the files. But, at least it is easy to reinstall it. :)
