Hi everyone. this is my first post here. Ive been simming since fs was an icon moving over geometric shapes resembling land mass. Anyway I lost my fsx.cfg file, I can still access it through a shortcut on my desktop but if I try to go through the standard file approach [C/settings and documents/my name acc/app data/microsoft/fsx], the Microsoft file is no longer in the Appl data folder. I have Hidden file option, Ive searched the hard drive with no success. I did a system resore back some ways and reloaded fsx and now im having alot of freeze ups. Im running XP with a 6800 nvidia updated. Does anyone know a way to locate this file, its kinda weird that the same path through my shortcut shows the microsoft file.

If you can access it through the shortcut, rightclick the shortcut - select properties - select find target. That will put you in the folder where the shortcut is finding it. Note the folder path and be sure it's the same as the one your are trying manually.

Just want to add something, which may be useful to know...

the fsx.cfg file is what's known as a "phoenix file", meaning it will reappear if deleted... once you restart the sim, it will recreate the file if it doesn't find it there...

just mind that you lose all your settings if you do that
