Question re: default A321 in fsx

I just have a question. How come when I set the plane on auto pilot,  I cannot control the plane using my joystick anymore?  For other default plane such as B737, after using the heading, you can already control the plane using the joystick even under auto pilot.  Is there anyway around it?   Thanks for the advise.

Without the "auto-pilot" the automatic pilot is not controlling the aircraft. Even though the light for the heading is on, it won't be fully engaged unless the autopilot is on. That is why it works in the B737. I don't know about the A321. Sorry  :-[ :-[
