Activation Fail - Continued --Now Solved

Postby HarvesteR » Wed Mar 18, 2009 9:48 am

Our records show that you have installed Flight Simulator X too many times

i have the FSX box sitting here on my desk, with the serial number staring at me... and i have no idea what could be causing this...

this copy of FSX is installed on 2 machines, mine and my brother's... and it has worked like this for many years and only today it decided to go berserk and refuse to activate...

i just bought a new computer... or rather, upgraded my CPU, Mobo and RAM... now i instaled FSX onto the new rig, and proceded to check out the new High-FPS goodness when this happened, and i'm not even sure if i can install the service packs without the activation...

anyone have a clue why this would happen?

thanks in advance

Cheers

Might just be a problem with Microsoft's servers, happened to me, when I tried to activate Acceleration.

Give it a day or two, then try again :)

Are you allowed to install the program on two different machines?

Most of my various registered software programs only allows them to be installed on my MAIN Computers Hard Drive. (The Registry will detect it).

I cannot install the SAME software both on my Desktop Computer AND my Laptop... ;)...!

The Publishers detect a different computer when trying to re-activate again!

Paul... 8-)...!

Hi Paul,

yes, some programs can be installed on more than one machine at a time... usually they allow for 2 or 3 simultaneous installs

i never had trouble with activating FSX when my brother was already running a copy on his rig... just today it decided that it wouldn't activate anymore :(

Cheers

...yet another one of the FSX disasters... :'(.... ;D....!

I don't think we had these Registration/Activation problems with all the previous versions of the MS Flight Sims...FS '98, 2000, 2002, and 2004...
...the registration details printed on the Jewel Case was sufficient... :)...!

I just keep re-installing them after each new Hard Drive installation/Format!

Perfect for all the Dads and Youngsters who didn't/dont have access to the Internet for On-Line Registration!

...happy days!.. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

i found a no CD patch that did the trick... not illegal in my opinion, since i do own FSX  ;)

a ridiculous situation nonetheless  :P

I purchased the FSX deluxe Flight Simulator the day it was released in England...

...the same as I have done with all my other versions of the MS Simulators...from FS 5 onwards.. :P...!

I use the FSX Flight Simulator for some of my flights, as well as the other versions, but I choose not to regularly join some of the rather humourless, argumentative, and often unpleasant Chaps who regularly appear, and have appeared, on the Sim V FSX Forum since the day FSX was released...;)....!

We have lost a few good Members in the past, because of it...

...trust me!...;)...!

I prefer the peace and tranquillity of FS 2004 most of the time!

Paul....FS 5, FS '98, FS 2000, FS 2002, FS 2004, FSX...plus many other Flight Simulators since the 1970's... 8-)...!

...(...and most of my Scenery Designer, Navigation, etc, programs will not work in FSX).

I can bet,
Ive found myself yelling at the computer when im on approach and everything starts to crash. ;D I just turned my settings so low that I normally dont have any more problems but the graphics suck and there are bearly any other airplanes out there.

Im the only person in the world, flying airplanes around the world for nobody.  ;D

I was going to transition to 2004 but never got around to it.  ::) :P

Maybe you should call Microsoft. There was one time that I did a complete reinstall and it wouldn't let me activate because I had installed it too many times before. I called Microsoft and they quickly fixed the problem for me.

It's working fine now... patched... but working  ::)

it must be a problem with the activation server, or maybe a bug caused by my upgrade... i guess that since i didn't really uninstall FSX before the upgrade, it's still being counted as installed (i still have it in the old drive... maybe it's counting that installation as valid)

anyways, i was just installing it on my brand new computer, and i couldn't keep myself waiting for an 'official' solution... hence the patch  ;)

it's working great now BTW, i got autogen fully maxed, and am still running locked at 24 FPS... after some tweaks, i'll probably be able to open up air traffic and weather as well  :D ...and reduce the weird stutter i'm getting  :P

Cheers

I have installed FSX so many times, probably around 10 times+ and I have always had no problem activating it. Of course, it has always been installed on my computer.
