Perf with New Clock.

Postby Plugpennyshadow » Sat Mar 28, 2009 7:36 pm

Posted over in my clocking thread that a new friend with the Shreveport, LA chapter of Cajun Clickers came over from Longview, TX to help me with my overclocking.

System runs stable now at 2.8.  Chip and I didnt have time or the nerve to try for any more that day.  I still take a dive in the FPS around the big cities and airports, but I expect that.  Just noodling between the smaller airports and jetports in the Cub and Grand Caravan, I get 30 give a few for the occaisional dip.  Visuals are butter smooth and aircraft responds well.  Much better flight experience.

Should I go with the FPS Limiter thingie to try to get better perf around the big ports?  Or should I just stick with what Ive got til I get an i7 based machine?

Thankie.

That is what I thought.  But I cant afford to burn up this system at this time...LOL!  Im gonna stick with the current stable clock and try the FPS Limiter to get better perf when things get busy.

i7 chip system is a bit in the future.  I am currently at home recovering from back surgery, but am still working by remote puter connection for a few hours a day.  Some pay is better than no pay...sigh.  I demand to win the lottery!

Thanks for all the advice.  If I could just nail that dang short field takeoff and landing mission!

Bytheby...Bought training book for FSX:

"Microsoft Flight Simulator X for Pilots:  Real World Training by Jeff Van West and Kevin Lane-Cummings, Wiley Publishing Co."

This premise behind this book is the assumption that one is taking real world flight training and this gives you instruction for training at home.  Missions may be downloaded from the Wiley Publishing site for free.  I am not taking RW flight training, yet the book is helping me tremendously.  I recommend this book be put on some kind of official list here for those who want to learn to fly by the numbers.

Just my bad penny's worth...
