Very High BufferPools entry

Postby kingfish42 » Sat Mar 21, 2009 5:03 am

I have not seen any postings with suggestions for placing bufferpools as high as mentioned in

http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=9908.0

on this forum.

I tried it and it works for me. i7940 at 4.0 and GTX 285. Smooth flight with most sliders maxed.

Thanks for the heads up on this, kingfish. I'll try it as soon as I get home. I'm smooth already everywhere else, but in FTX areas it's a little rough with all the autogen that thing makes the system render. Very excited about this having read all the positive replies from the i7 users  ;)

They did not come up with that .. they got it from me at AVSIM

Raising bufferpools on 1GB cards to 400-480MB LOWERS the priority to the PCIe slot at the driver level

not all systems have the same response to that however it does require a 1GB video card to accomplish

It's not working as well as I expected it to be for me... If I set it to anything above 270mb, the textures will be completely messed up and misplaced and there will be no autogen showing at all in the game and stutters are unbearable...

If I set it to 250mb, it's very smooth but then there will be autogen cells that are completely blanked out if there are too many trees in one area for example...

If I set it to 200mb... stutters badly.

This is around Launceston, Tasmania with FTX and autogen set to very dense.

Hey Nick,

What advice would you give me with these specs in mind, in terms of Bufferpools and whatnot:

Dual Core E4600 2.4Ghz
2GB RAM
Nvidia GForce 7300 512MB

With the current settings that I have I

as I said its a try and see setting.. i7 systems respond different than Q with that

Most Q's and C2's will benefit from it

Hey Nick,

The reason I'm wondering about this is becuase I see that over on the FTX forums there are i7 users with specs very, VERY similar to mine (if not the same) that are able to push the BP up to 400mill and I can't even go above 260mill... Perhaps a 280/285 would help?

i got a 768MB card here... maybe increasing BP over my current 100MB would help?

Cheers

a 768MB card @ 100MB is overrun

70MB is the max with a 768MB card
