How to remove Virtual Cockpit?

Is there an easy way to remove the virtual cockpit? I'd like to be able to pan around in all directions without the thing popping up and the only way I can think to do this is to fly a plane without a virtual cockpit but most of those are the AI planes - I really want the default planes minus the VC.

Cheers

Ian

LOL, that's a uncommon request. Normally it is the other way around. Most ask how to put in a VC in a plane that doesn't have one. That can't be done, and I'm afraid the same holds true for your request. The VC is part of the model and as far as I know can't be turned on or off.

Well, in FSX the VC is NOT part of the model.
You can remove the VC by removing the interior mdl file from the \model\ subfolder of the plane... but honnestly removing the VC from a plane...

Cheers Daube, I'll give a try. I  really do understand what you're saying - those VC are stunning but I have a homebuild and don't need all the controls on the screen, I just want to be able to pan around and see the scenery!

Cheers for the help, will let the thread know how I get on!

Blimey, Ian... :o...!

Removing the Virtual Cockpit is as daft as removing Southend Pier... :o...!

...or setting fire to it...

.... ;D...!

Paul...G-BPLF.... ;D

Thanks for correcting me on that :)
So does this mean we can make a VC for any plane that doesn't have one?
Or better yet, change exsisting VC's?
Like update flight instruments to modern standards on a WWII era plane for instance?

Why not just press F10 for the 2d panel?

Yes, exactely, but this is something that work ONLY for aircrafts in fsx native format.
The most famous example is the POSKY 737 in FSX format. Normally, this plane has no virtual cockpit, but since it's a FSX model, you can add the virtual cockpit of the default FSX 737 !

When you pan around in 2D mode, you see the virtual cockpit. That's the problem of the author if I understood well.

No more pesky VC when I look around - just like the good old days  :)

Cheers!

I believe a lot of 3rd party developers remove this option from their aircraft to stop people doing that.

When it comes to FSX native format, "a lot of 3rd party devs" is quite an exagerated expression.

OK, I'll rephrase that. Most 3rd party developers.

I'm supposed to be the pedantic one around here. :P
