ILS Problems

I have found several airports were the localizer is off centre to the right or left. If you follow it down it has you landing on the grass or worse. Very difficult attempting a night or bad weather landing. Is there a program that I can use to correct it.I have just found two today Kingston Jamaica and Vagar in the Faroes. Also if I recall  those airports were ok in fs9 but I am not sure. Can I use those afcads in fsx?

If you're using the ILS to land the airplane for you.... it doesn't. The ILS is used to get you in a general, although usually quite close, direction of the runway. At 200ft AGL you make your decision as to whether you're going in for the landing. That's when you disengage AP and manually land the plane.

There is an FS9 to FSX Afcad converter on FSX Utilities-page 1....but fs9 MKJP has no ils and FS9 and FSX EKVG are the same.

Indeed both MKJP rwy 12 and EKVG rwy 13 have the ils offset localizers. Though this could be an FS location error, I suspect they both reflect the real world.

The real EKVG rwy 12 has an offset localizer (EKVG approach plates in .pdf) for terrain avoidance. For MKJP, though I didn't locate any charts, it appears there may be no land available to mount the localizer in line with the runway.

Also keep in mind that even with ils there are visual minimums that apply. If you don't have a visual of the the runway at the minimums, you must execute a missed approach.

Yes I realize what you are saying but I also have run across airports in fsx that have had the localizer adjusted, my home airport CYTR was ok in fs9 but off centre in fsx. some kind soul then adjusted it correctly.I just forget who. So there is a way to correct a lot of them. What is the program{s}?

There is no way to do wholesale corrections, you would have to do it for each airport.

Here are 2 airport editors, both similar to Afcad, but for FSX.

ADE (Airport Design Editor)--freeware. Requires the FSX SDK (though you can open and even edit any FSX airport, the SDK is needed to compile your changes).

AFX (Airport Facilitator X)-payware. Does not require the SDK.

If you use the AP in the first place, that is :D

What, disengage the autopilot and have to fly the aircraft by hand for the first time since departure...? Are you mad...? ;D

I have run across this myself. I love to fly in the Swiss Alps out of Sion (LSGS). There are obviously alot of mountains in the area but the approach could still be made straight in. I do it visualy all the time. The ILS approach is about 15-20 degrees off though.

Actually, there are three such programs. The third one -also freeware- is
