Request Taxi To Gate...should I bother?

Do we have any control over where we end up once we land? And what would happen if I just chose the gate myself and parked?

Sometimes I get sent way to farthest boondocks of the airport and the progressive runway (the yellow arrows) show a ridiculous rout to get where they send me, like often times the arrows are pointing in the opposite direction of my plane just to bring me back to the same taxiway I'm facing. I end up ignoring the directions for the first half of the taxi. I like getting assigned a gate, but if there's a way to have more of a say so I'm all ears. Otherwise I'll just live with it.

By the way...what is usually requested after landing a C-130?

Usually, the pilot's request a parking spot far away from any buildings, forcing the troops to walk and carry their 150+ pounds of gear and weapons as far as possible in the 115+ degree heat.

Trust me, I know.... ;D

When creating an airport, you can assign some gates to specific airlines. So your gate will depend on who you are :)
In FSX, the path will adapt to your position, so if they try to make you follow a stupid circle that ends right in from of you, just go forward, the path will update in order to start from where you are.
