add on scenery cache

Is there anything to be gained by not having the add on- scenery cache emptied on exit?  What effect does this selection provide?
Thanks

The sim would start up faster and I imagine it would lower the rate of hard drive fragmentation.

Are you really storing scenery on a CD/DVD or other slow device? That's the purpose of the 'Cache this scenery' option, in the Add or Edit area window, in the Scenery Library..... to copy scenery from a slower device to your main hard drive.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
