I downloaded and installed SP2 after SP1 and now all the words in the alt bar are completely missing or unreadable and all ATC options and commands are blocks of color. What is wrong?

Did you download and install  the correct language service pack?

I have no idea what is wrong but if you have vista I think you can uninstall the service pack without uninstalling Flight Simulator. Then get it from fsinsider.com and  the way I got mine to work ( I was having problems with it too) run the installer instead of downloading it and select the right language if you didn't do that before. but I don't think the language is the problem because I don't know of any language that is blocks of color. ;)

Installed the correct languages. All that shows up in the ATC box is purple and green boxes where the text is suppose to be and in the ALT tab all there is is dots where the choices should be.

I think you might be able to uninstall just the service pack if you go to control panel and uninstall it there. If you can't and you just got FSX the only other thing I can think of is to reinstall FSX and the service packs. But I think if you get ccleaner @ ccleaner.com it will let you uninstall just the service pack. then reinstall it from fsinsider.com :-/

the purple & Green boxes mean your graphics card is overloaded.  once you're in the air, press "`" to close the atc window.  Once the graphics card catches up to the flight, because ground textures are not loading, press ` again-it will come on.
