Hey guys:

I'm halfway across the Pacific at 35,000ft when I come across some very significant turbulence (running FSX, REX weather, and FSPassengers) at about M0.82. I went down to 25000ft, didn't help, and am now up at 39,000ft, which seemed just a little better.

Is there a way to see, predict, etc., where to go to get out of the turbulence?? Is it a matter of altitude or speed?

Well turbulence is just hot winds. So the higher you go, the less likely you're going to get it. I'm not really sure about predicting it though.

Sadly the only real way to predict it is to look at the weather forecast beforehand (looking for forecast turbulence and the high level winds and jetstreams), and listening to reports from other aircraft once airborne.

There are payware programs that can help you to decide that. One is Active Sky X
After saving your flight plan you load it into active sky and it will show a report of the weather and winds aloft at each and every way point you have in your flight plan plus with the built in weather radar it helps you to spot things like that. Mind you though that does not mean there is a way to avoid the winds. Just like in the real world all you can do is to check the weather enroute than try to pick the correct route and altitude.
