G'day again guys,i'v just downloaded the excelent looking Team FBT F-18E but am having a very hard to time to get it to work properly,It all looks fine untill i go into the VC in which the glass is a lovely shade of almost complete black I'v downloaded the FSX cockpit update but hasn't helped at all(looks nice,the parts that do work though!)

I'm running it with the acceleration add on and obviously SP2,I'v read a few things that say with the changes to FSX with SP2 a lot of older planes now wont work at all :/ I'm hoping this isnt true for this plane as its a very very nice looking model and i would love to get it working.Here's a picture of what it currently looks like.

Could this be fixed with that DXTBmp program,or running some of the VC textures through a DDS converter?,I'v not had much experience with either so I'm a bit unsure about using such programs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure ? Daisuke's Super Hornet works just fine in my FSX SP2 Acceleration. Only thing I have to do to fly it is to switch off the high res VC option to avoid the FPS hit (and the VC remains beautifull).

Are you using Acceleration, or just SP2?

Everyone in that thread who ran Acceleration had the problem, while those who only had SP2 did not.

I wonder what the big difference is then. Is it the one listed in the link from that thread, or did you get this elsewhere?

Please note that I am not using the "warhawk" package by Danny Garnier, but the original super hornet package from the author (f18esh.zip or something like that) with all the related updates. This is the package that had 5 deliveries, with a LOT of variants (with missiles, with external tanks etc...) for each.

Well I'll be, you got a link by chance? It would be nice if there were some kind of reference to go back to when this problem comes up again, and I'd like to see if I can use parts of this to fix that Warhawks package, and upload an update for it.

Unfortunately my connexion is just so slow, so I won't be able to test it before an hour.
Is it the same as the one you have downloaded ? If your internet connexion is faster maybe you can give that one a try ? I will test it when the download is finished anyway.

Ok I have installed and tested, and the canopy is transparent.  :D

Downloading it now, I'm gonna check them out, and hopefully have something good to report back with.

Well, they are the same plane, the only difference being the paintschemes, and I still get the blacked out VC.






This is a little more than frustrating that some have it working while others do not. I wonder what the big secret factor is that we are missing here. :-?
