Noob Question...

I'm New To FSX and Haven't Done Much Multiplayer...
I Was Wondering, What Happens When I Choose An Aircraft That The Other Player(s) Don't Have? Do They Get A Loading Screen To Load The Aircraft or Is It Entirely Not There? Can I Even Use A Add-On Aircraft? My Father Is Return To The States On Leave From Taji, Iraq and He Has Had This Before Me and I Wanted To Fly With Him, Regardless of Him Not Liking The Navy(He Doesn't Want The Harrier, It's An Army Thing, I guess...) Answers Would Be Nice...
Many Thanks In Advance...

I use add-on aircraft all the time, in fact, most of the time! Yes, they appear to other people. No, they do not have to have it. No loading screen appears for them. That's the awesome thing. You get to show off your collection!!!

No,
Your wrong.
You can fly any airplane in your hangar that you want online but other players don't see it as the same aircraft inless they have that same exact download as you. Although it will say what you are flying.
Example- If your flying the FSX Acceleration f-18 it will say your flying the Boeing F-18 whatever but if I dont have it then I would see you flying like a lear jet or something but it would be doing the same flying as your are doing in your game but it just wouldent appear to other people as the same aircraft as yours inless they have that same download.
Also welcome to the forums,
dont get to hooked.

8-)

Yeah it sucks, ive seen airplanes fly as helicopters before which is funny but ive also almost got to see the Blue Angels VA which they are really really good but since I didn't have acceleration they appeared as lear jets ::)
Of course if you give him the link to download you guys could see each other's aircraft

Tcco, are you serious? I can honestly say I have seen EVERY plane I have ever played with(other people's planes)

I'm with tcco, other players will see another plane, similar to the one you use.

...which is the main reason why FS 2004 Multiplayer Pilots always use the MS Default Aircraft for On-Line, Multiplayer Flights, to show all their Aircraft accurately, unless it is pre-arranged, beforehand, to install, and fly each others "add-on" Aircraft...

...!
If I decide to load Joe Blogs's "Terrific Twin with its amazing Textures", in an On-Line Multiplayer Session, no-one else will see it, unless they all have

Whether FSX is different from FS 2004 in its display of Multiplayer Aircraft, I don't know?...

...
Paul..G-BPLF...FS 2004... 8-)...!
...
It's generally hard to pre-arrange any flights with FSX multiplayer

Perhaps you have quite a large download folder? ;)

now it would be neat if FS had a system similar to that used by TrackMania... it uses a locator file, which is a file with directions to a website or ftp address that contains your model file, so that other people can download it and see it as well
this file is set by the user, and can point to any site, so you can upload your vehicle to your own site and have everyone download a copy of it
of course on FSX, since addon files are so large and some are payware, it would be necessary to have a 'proxy' model, that could be downloaded by locator... a simpler exterior-only, download friendly model that could be automatically received and displayed on other people's sims
come to think of it, some type of shared folder inside FS would work even better, no locator files, only a proxy model folder that contains your file, and others could download directly off it
if FS11 was still a thing of the near future, i'd put that on top of my wishlist... but now, the only hope that remains is that this could be implemented by some third-party app
excuse my mental wandering, i just got excited by the possibility... i'm done now

Well hey you dont have to believe me but think,
if you downloaded something on your game how's my game going to load that same exact thing and show it to me when my game doesent even know what it is.

well, the game already knows what it is... it just doesn't know what it looks like
it would be a simple matter of looking up the aircraft name in my proxy folder and copying the contents linked to that over to your sim
