Newbie question regarding engine status

Hi,

I've tried searching for info on this subject, here and with google, but found nothing pertinent to my issue with FSX.

Everytime I start a flight my aircraft is always already moving! Is there anyway to stop this? I'm a bit of a newb so on the easiest flight realism, I was wondering if that is the reason. But after trawling the game resource information and the net I haven't been able to find out if that is the case (hence this post!).

Ideally I'd like to start with engines off and do the start up routine, how do I set the game up in this way?

Thanks in advance for any help.

When you start a flight, do you choose an airport to start at or do you just click "fly now"? If you just click "fly now" it starts you at Friday Harbour at about 100 feet I think, you need to choose an airport to start at on the "free flight" page.

But if not, start up a flight and go where you'd like to be, what plane and speed you want. Then click "Save Flight" and check the "Save as default flight" box then click the save button.

Sorry if that doesn't help. ;)

Hi there this is an easy one. There is a recent thread on SimV regarding this. All you need to do is start a flight, switch everything off then save the flight ( press ; ) and check the box to save as default. Then everytime, in any ac the engines will be switched off(cold and dark scenario)

Welcome to SimV

Many thanks for the replies, I'll try setting up a default flight with everything off. Altho I'm surprised that MS didn't have some sort of option for this.

update, everything worked as suggested, many thanks once again! :)
