That may be decent to run on medium-high settings. Although you will be fine setting things this way, you could see a slowdown at big cities and during cloudy days. Those can be taxing for this simulator. Video card and memory is important. The video card is the only thing that may slow down this computer. I have that same video card right now and it can play the game at a decent framerate of 27 FPS. But at big cities (LAX JFK ATL airports) you will notice a slowdown. I would recommend the NVIDIA 8800 series. Heard those run well.

(BTW, are you running Vista or XP (this can make a difference)

it will be Vista on the new computer

27 FPS is pretty good, but how much will it slow down at those airports?

Framerate is not only dependant on video cards though, especially not in FSX ;)

Usually it can be anywhere from 12-27 depending on varying factors like weather and traffic. I use WOAI so it helps a little. Vista can be a performance hog, so I would disable firewall and windows defender (it you can, I am using FSX from a comp that is not connected to the internet, so not sure about you). Also this is with Acceleration installed so you may need SP1 and SP2 for the performance rise. Without SP's the sim was a litter slower for me!

Oh, I know Anxyous, but video card and memory seem to be a good factor in performance for me.

Acceleration includes sp2 if I remember right. and sp1. Pete has a sticky at the top the FSX page that spells this out.  :)
