Are you using DX10 preview? if so, that is your problem ;)

Yes I am, I thought you needed that on if you had direct x 10?

DX10 preview in FSX is crap and is not needed unless you want the VC shadowing effects and a couple of other things.

If you have DX10 then good for you but it is not needed for FSX ;)

Has DX10 even been released?  All Ive heard about it is the cards that are compatible and the FSX preview function.

don't use DX10 in FSX because it causes too many problems with third party addons such as textures and props and cockpits and whatnot.... bascially everything!

Display settings. I think it's on the first tab you get.

Off or On. Nice selectivity.

DX10 and Light Bloom off absolutely and immediately.  However don't accept that as the only answer.

Do you have NHancer?

If your videocard is good enough the Anti Aliasing needs to be at least 4x, and Anisotropic filtering at least Bilinear and 16x using nHancer.

Look into the locked threads above the line and NickN will tell you all about nHancer and its role with nVidia videocards.

Some shimmering never goes away - it is the result of the way FSX is written - but much can be reduced.   Some users go to anti Aliasing 8x but it is a heavy demand on your processor and can cause stuttering so bad that a bit of shimmering is far preferable.  Anti Aliasing is one of the great killers of performance so treat it carefully.
