The final word on SLI in FSX?

Hey all, first post here and a question... as seems typical with me.
I've read countless times that SLI provides no benefit in FSX unless you're running very high resolution or some funky AA. I've no doubt this is accurate. What I'd like to know is there any drawbacks to running SLI? My system runs FSX at 1680x1050 and as it happens to be an SLI rig (dual 8800GT's) I figure enabling SLI may not be helping much, but it's surely not hurting either.
As it stands I've heard commentary that I may be wrong about that. So, accepting that SLI isn't giving me a huge boost in frame rates, is there any way that leaving it on could be hurting my performance somehow? I can't see how, but I thought I'd get some opinion and this seemed the best place to do it.
Thanks,
datter
