FSX Clean Install Guide

I have XP SP3 and I'm installing the FSX Gold pack.

I noticed in the 'Clean FSX, Acceleration, SP1 & SP2 Install!' Guide that it's suggested to get the latest version of FSUIPC4, is that still needed with my install?

Also, it says to 'Make sure you have the C++ library update installed' and the link is to the 'Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package', however I noticed there is a newer 'Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package' available, should I install that instead?   Thanks

Over 40 views and no answers, yikes!

I noticed a NickN's newer FSX guide last updated 1-19-09 that does not mention FSUIPC4 anymore but still refers to getting the latest version of C++ with the link being to the 2005 SP1 version.

Can I assume FSUIPC4 is no longer needed and that the 2005 SP1 version of C++ is the one to use?

NickN, are you out there?

Sorry for the late answer.
The C++ library is certainly included in your XP SP3, so don't worry about that.
FSX will install and work correctly without FSUIPC, but you will need this module because some planes and other addons that you will install in your FSX in future might need it. For example, some planes have a radar in the cockpit, and this radar need FSIUPC to work correctly. And this is just an example :)
And I'm talking about the free version, not the payware one. You do not need to buy FSUIPC for FSX to work. FSUIPC has some very interesting features, and if those are interesting for you then you might want to buy the full version.
