New to FSX but really enjoying it. Runs on my XP fine but I cannot get the Beaver which has floats to get the gear down. Clicking G works in all aircraft except this one and Shift + G doesn't work either. I have scanned the cockpit in Virtual Cockpit to find a 'down' gear lever. Surely there is one but I cannot see it. ! So cannot take off on land unles someone can help me. Also.... how do you find a sea plane base in Locations ? Any help gratefully appreciated. Good plane if only I could fly it. !

I don't have FSX but I believe the default Beaver is a floatplane, not an amphibian. Therefore it has no wheels.
Here's a list of water runways in FSX.

Hagar you are correct. The Goose has retractable wheels not the Beaver. I'm sure this time. ;D

ctrl+w throws down the water rudders for easy turning while taxing.. hit again to retract them

I was wondering if anyone has a like list of the water runways in Canada? It has so many scenic lakes and large rivers. The Hagar list certainly is excellent for the USA. I have found a work around to my original problem by placing the float plane on the runway of an airport, looking at it in MAP, grabbing it with the mouse and placing it in the adjoining water !!! As the runway will always be at a higher elevation than the water I am initially flying- which makes for an interesting water landing. But it works. Another way would be to take off from a runway in the Goose, land in water and then change 'aircraft'- I suppose.

When moving the ac in the map, set 'Altitude' to 0 before clicking OK. Or use slew mode and once over the water use the Z key to 'decend'.
If you're intent on having a Beaver amphibian, I will vouch for the excellence of the
Aerosoft Beaver X (payware).
